Beware of Counterfeit Skincare Products Online

Just because it's less expensive online, doesn't mean it's the same product from the store

It seems you can buy anything online these days, however what customers are actually ending up with after ordering online is starting to concern me. I hear so many horror stories about counterfeit products bought online and from non-authorized retails that it scares me to buy beauty products from anyone other than the licensed professional. You won’t find me buying shampoo at TJMaxx or eBay. I’ll support my hair stylist and her small business by buying from her because I KNOW her products are the real deal and haven’t been tampered with.

I once saw a photo of a hair stylist comparing the name brand product they sell in their salon to the less expensive one sold at the local TJMaxx. It had the same packaging and what they thought was the same product inside the bottle. The stylist poured a bit of each bottle out, the product sold at the salon was more concentrated and thicker, but the one from the discount store appeared to be watered down with a thinner consistency. It was quite obvious that it had been compromised, thus interfering with the integrity of the product: aka making it less effective. Most recently I had a young lady tell me about the time a girl she knew bought what she thought was an expensive tanning lotion online for a cheaper amount and when she used it, it turned out to be Nair! What a nightmare! I was also told a story about a woman who bought a moisturizer lotion online only to open the bottle to use it and the lotion was green! Last time I checked, lotion should not be green. Stories like this, of people who thought they were getting a good deal online only to get a compromised product, just gives me the willies!

I sell Image Skincare at Luxe Skin Spa in Cary, and one of the things I really enjoy about Image Skincare is that it is not available anywhere online or in department stores. You can only get Image Skincare products from licensed aestheticians and physicians in spas, medical spas and physicians’ offices. If you find Image Skincare online, BEWARE! It might be lower priced, but it’s for a reason and most likely because it’s probably a compromised or counterfeit product. If you go to Image skincare official site it will also tell you not to buy their products online and will refer you to the closest Esthetician near you. I am listed for Spa in Cary, NC.

I don’t want to hear any more stories of compromised and counterfeit products that people bought online because they were looking for a deal. If the price sounds too good to be true…it probably is and you’re going to get what you paid for. Remember that the next time you consider buying certain skincare products online rather than from the authorized distributor. It’s your face and body, you only get one so be cautious of what you put on it.

Luxe Skin Spa in Cary is proud to be an authorized distributor of Image Skincare products and I keep them in stock for my clients needs. In addition to being an authorized distributor of Image Skincare, I have been specially trained to make the best suggestions of which products are needed for your skin type and condition. When you buy online, you won’t get this personal service. If you’re interested in purchasing Image Skincare, please contact me directly so I may advise you on the best products for your needs and skin type. I also offer complimentary consultations at Luxe Skin Spa in Cary.
